Why work at Oxinet?
At Oxinet you will find a small and supportive team of co-workers who will help your career grow and flourish. You will be given responsibility at an early stage and the opportunity to really make a difference both to customers and Oxinet
What kind of people work at Oxinet?
The company is a friendly place where everyone will 'muck-in' to get the job done where necessary. We take customer service very seriously, so you'll need to be able to talk directly to the customer about the work that you are doing, and to discuss design changes or functionality options informally over the phone or in face-to-face meetings.
We are interested in new technologies, and we want to have the opportunity to use them and develop new business areas based on them. It's important to have time to simply 'play' with the new technologies - as this is how we learn.
What is the typical working day?
There isn't one! Generally we have several long-term projects which we provide ongoing support, maintenance, updates and enhancements to the customer, and you might be part of a small team of three or so people who provide this support. At the same time you might also be part of a different team of people developing a new project for a new customer. You will never be bored! We do encourage a sensible work-life balance, though. We expect you to work hard and be productive, but we don't expect you to work 12+ hour days day-in day-out because we belive this destroys your productivity and creativity.
What technologies do you use?
Large web & database applications are normally developed in ASP.NET with Microsoft SQL Server, as we have found this to be the most productive and 'supportable' environment for our customers. Other smaller applications are also developed using PHP/MySQL with CMS Systems such as Drupal, Wordpress or Joomla. Often it is our flexibility to work with both proprietary and open-source systems which is the key to getting the job done. We do not evangelise a single technology for moral reasons, we simply try to use the most cost-effective and appropriate tools for the job at hand.
Who are the customers?
Our customers range in size from large automotive companies with commercial marketing websites, through public-sector organizations delivering terabytes of public information per month, to small and medium sized companies with complex web-integration projects and CMS websites. Geographically they are mostly located in London or the South East, but they do go as far afield as Gibraltar!
